To the Editor:
Recently Ive seen flags and other paraphernalia promoting Donald Trump. I wonder how much folks really know about their candidate?
A little history:
Trump owned six casinos. All went bankrupt.
Hes a convicted sex offender – guilty of sexual assault and fined $5 million.
He started Trump University in Florida to teach the real estate business. It failed. A Federal Court ordered him to pay $25 million to the students defrauded who never received the promised education.
Because of fraudulent business practices, Donald Trump has been barred from doing business in N.Y. state. In a different case he received 34 felony convictions for misrepresenting property he owned on tax declarations and loan applications.
Trump said he would use the power of the Justice Dept. to punish political adversaries a violation of fundamental democratic principles.
Probably the most damning perspective comes from those who worked directly with Mr. Trump – those who know him best.
John Bolton, Trumps National Security Advisor said Donald Trump is unfit to be president. General Mark Milley, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, reported that Trump seemed to be unhinged. Mike Pence, Trumps VP, said he wont vote for Donald Trump.
Over half of the 40+ people who held cabinet positions under Trump dont support his candidacy. More than 100 Republican security officials from the Trump administration have endorsed VP Harris.
Perhaps the most striking condemnation comes from former VP Dick Cheney, a politician whose conservative Republican credentials are beyond challenge. Cheney stated he will be voting for Kamala Harris because In our nations 248-year history theres never been an individual whos a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump.
Ordinarily, any one of these matters would be enough to disqualify a candidate. Have our standards changed that much??
