Huron Public Library February 2026 events

The Huron Public Library invites the community to take part in a full month of fun, learning, and connection with its February 2026 lineup of programs and events. From family celebrations and children’s storytimes to teen activities, adult workshops, movies, and special events, there is something for every age and interest. Many programs are free and open to the public, with some requiring advance registration.

FamilyTines Party – Friday, February 13, 2026 | 1:30 p.m.

Celebrate love and togetherness at our FamilyTines Party! Families are invited to enjoy Valentine’s crafts, a lively game of Valentine Bingo, and quality time together. With activities for all ages, this warm and welcoming event is a perfect way to make special family memories.

Kids’ Korner (Birth–Grade 3)
February is packed with fun, learning, and cozy winter activities in the Kids’ Korner! Families are invited to join us all month for storytimes, music, crafts, special celebrations, and activities for all ages.

Winter Storytime (Ages 0–5) – Tuesdays at 10 a.m. Enjoy stories, songs, and activities designed especially for our youngest library friends.

Music Makers with Emily Salinas (Ages 0–4) – Saturday, February 14, 10 a.m. Sing, move, and make music with special guest Emily Salinas. Registration required.

After the Bell Afterschool Activities (Grades 1–3)
Hands-on fun and enrichment for elementary students.

    National Pet Day Celebration
    Read a children’s picture book about pets at the library and enter to win a gift card from The Henny Penny Pet Store.

  • Drawing held Friday, February 20
    National Pokémon Day – Friday, February 27, all day (9 a.m.–5 p.m.). Celebrate with a self-guided Pokémon scavenger hunt available throughout the day.

Tweens & Teens (Grades 4–12)
Blind Date with a Book (All Month) Fall in love with reading this February! Choose a wrapped mystery book from our heart-themed display and discover your next favorite read. Each participant receives a small goodie bag while supplies last.

Tween/Teen Advisory Board Meeting – Wednesday, February 4, 4 p.m. Students in grades 4–12 are invited to learn what an advisory board is, why their voice matters, and how they can help shape library programs. Share ideas, plan future events, and enjoy snacks. No experience needed.

Afterschool Craft Day: Heart-Shaped Painting – Wednesday, February 11, 4 p.m. Create a colorful heart-shaped landscape during this guided art session. All skill levels welcome. Registration required.

Among Us in Real Life – Friday, February 13, 5 p.m. Play a live-action version of the popular game. Complete tasks, spot the imposter, and work as a team. Limited to 14 participants. Registration required.

Afterschool STEM Day: Popsicle Bridge Challenge – Wednesday, February 18, 4 p.m. Design and build a bridge using popsicle sticks, then test its strength. Learn engineering basics through hands-on experimentation. Registration required.

Afterschool Fun Day: Brainy Games – Wednesday, February 25, 4 p.m. Put your knowledge to the test in a February-themed trivia challenge. Play, collaborate, and learn something new. Registration required.

Pokémon Day Activities – Friday, February 27, 3:30 p.m. Trade Pokémon cards (common cards only), complete scavenger hunts, make crafts, and test your knowledge with trivia.

Laser Tag – Friday, February 27, 5 p.m. Fast-paced laser tag battles with rotating game rounds so everyone gets a turn. Space is limited. Registration required.

Nerf Wars – Friday, February 27, 6 p.m. Team up for exciting Nerf battles featuring games like Capture the Flag and Last Player Standing. Equipment provided. Space is limited. Registration required.

Adult Activities
The Huron Public Library invites adults to enjoy movies, games, crafts, and educational programs throughout February.

Monday Movie – Monday, February 2, 6 p.m.
Jailhouse Rock (1957), starring Elvis Presley. Runtime: 1 hour, 36 minutes. Popcorn provided.

Sensory Movie Morning – Friday, February 6, 10 a.m.
Enjoy a sensory-friendly showing of Shrek 2 in a relaxed environment. All ages welcome. Popcorn provided.

Adult Crafts: Paper Quilling – Monday, February 9, 1 p.m. or 6 p.m. OR Thursday, February 26, 6 p.m.
Create a quilled greeting card. Suggested $2 donation for supplies. Registration required.

Adult Game Night – Friday, February 13, 5:15 p.m.
Enjoy Pictionary and Scattergories in a relaxed, laughter-filled evening. Registration required.

Sew a Pillowcase (Beginner Sewing Class) – Friday, February 13, 1 p.m.
Learn basic sewing skills and take home a finished pillowcase. Led by volunteer Dayna Winter, Certified Master Teacher in Clothing Construction. Registration required.

Aging Well Workshop #1: Navigating Family Estrangement – Wednesday, February 18, 10 a.m. A webinar exploring family estrangement in older adulthood and its impact on emotional health and aging well. Presented by SDSU Extension and NDSU Extension.

Basic Finance 101 for Adults – Thursday, February 19, 5 p.m.
Learn about budgeting, saving, credit, and protecting yourself from financial scams in this financial literacy program led by a local bank manager.

Indie Lens Pop-Up: The Librarians – Tuesday, February 24, 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
From Oscar-nominated director and producer Kim A. Snyder (Death by Numbers, Newtown, Us Kids) and executive producer Sarah Jessica Parker, The Librarians takes viewers from Texas to Florida and beyond, where local libraries have become unexpected battlegrounds in a national debate over parental control, intellectual freedom, and democracy. This documentary screening will be followed by an informal open discussion.
