To the editor:
After viewing the videos of the shooting of Renee Good and Alex Pretty by ICE agents, there seems to be a discrepancy between the President’s and Kristi Noem’s accounts of what happened and what eyewitnesses who were right there when it happened have said. They also have videos showing what happened. I remember when Trump said, “Don’t believe what you see, believe me.”
Videos show that Renee Good was shot three times when she was turning away from the agent. Alex Pretti was shot ten times, according to reports I have read. This was also videotaped by bystanders. He was trying to help a woman pushed into a snow bank by an ICE agent when he was grabbed by ICE and thrown to the ground and then shot ten times.
Vice President Vance stated ICE agents were immune from prosecution for anything they do. I have always been told that nobody is above the law. Does that give them the right to shoot a person ten times?
Todd Blanche is blaming the Minneapolis Mayor and Gov. Walz for not providing enough officers to protect ICE agents. There are 3,000 ICE agents there, and the police have 600 officers who are there for 24-hour protection of their citizens. It would seem they have enough to do without babysitting ICE agents.
I wonder where Republicans are on this issue. It is hard to believe the so-called law and order party is okay with allowing a person to be shot ten times and not think there should be any repercussions for these ICE agents.
This is what happened in Nazi Germany with Jews.
Republicans are still calling Jan. 6 a peaceful protest. As Trump says, don’t believe what you see or hear, just believe me.
