High School Art
The High School Art room is busy as usual with six classes this semester. The three Ceramics classes are learning multiple hand-building and design techniques. Some of the projects they will complete are a low-relief tile, lantern, and a choice project.
Ceramics II is learning more advanced ceramic techniques as well as learning how to throw on a potter’s wheel. Some of the projects they will complete are sgraffito tiles, trompe l’oeil sculptures, and thrown pieces.
The two Photography classes are exploring the art and technique of photography using only mobile devices. Students will learn foundational photography skills, principles of composition, editing basics, storytelling through imagery, and portfolio development. Emphasis is placed on creativity, observation, and technical growth.

As the colder months arrive, so does flu season. The good news is there are simple, effective ways we can work together to reduce the spread of illness and keep our community healthy. Influenza is a contagious respiratory illness, and the annual flu vaccine is one of the best ways to prevent severe illness and limit its spread. While it may not prevent every case, it significantly lowers the risk of complications and missed school or work days.
Everyday habits also make a big difference. Frequent handwashing, proper cough and sneeze etiquette, and staying home when sick help protect everyone. Students and adults should remain home until they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without medication. Staying up to date on recommended immunizations also plays a critical role in protecting against serious illnesses like meningitis and whooping cough. This is a helpful reminder for families to ensure students receive their required school immunizations at age 11.
As a school nurse, I see how illness affects learning and well-being. By practicing healthy habits and keeping vaccinations current, we can support a healthier season for all. Thank you for helping keep our schools and community safe and well.
