FAIRFIELD, Maine –– Trudy Lynn (Fuller) Champney, 80, of Fairfield, Maine, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Trudy was born on March 29, 1945, to Ceylon and Edythe (Richards) Fuller. She was raised in and around Bonilla, graduating from Bonilla High School in 1963. She and Richard Champney were married on April 11, 1970.
Trudy was currently working as an Office Assistant at Lake George Regional Park in Canaan, Maine. In recent years, Trudy spent her time reading and visiting with her family in Maine, South Dakota, Virginia and Florida and with friends in Iowa and all across the country.
Trudy was involved in all of her kids’ and grandkids’ lives by attending sporting events, musical concerts or any other activities they were participating in at the time. She loved cheering for her kids and grandkids from the grandstands to her beach chair.
She also kept up with her nieces’ and nephews’ achievements throughout their lives and continued that involvement through her great-nieces and great-nephews. Trudy never missed sending happy birthday or anniversary wishes through the miles to all her kids, grandkids, significant other’s nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to the love she felt for her friends left behind, she loved her family unconditionally and was an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on and a laugh to be shared. She never got lost a day in her life – only enjoyed more adventures.
Trudy is survived by her daughter Jacquelyn (Mike) Archer and sons Shannon (Tracy) Champney and Bill (Kathy) Champney, and her beloved grandchildren – Stephanie Nevells (Josh Doty), Nicholas Champney and Matthew Champney. She is also survived by her sister Judy Ann (Fuller) Barnard as well as countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and those grands and greats of family friends. Trudy was preceded in death by her husband Richard Champney and her parents.
A small service and burial will be held at the Bonilla Memorial Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10. A gathering and celebration of life to share memories, stories, good times, and refreshments will take place at the Bonilla Presbyterian Church in the new Fellowship Hall following the cemetery service.
Although our hearts are heavy, we are comforted by the countless memories she gave to us – memories that will continue to inspire and bring us strength.
