HURON — Despite multiple attempts at getting Night 1 of the Tri-State Late Model Dash in on Thursday night at Dakota State Fair Speedway, Mother Nature emerged victorious.
After a brief period of rain, the track official went to work on the track in an attempt to get it back in shape for a night of racing.
“Each radar we checked had different forecasts, and we somehow ended up with something way worse that any of them predicted,” DSFS officials said on their Facebook page.
Anyone who had purchased tickets before the rains is able to exchange the ticket stub for a rainout ticket. The DSFS ticket office at the grandstands will open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. today for anyone needing to exchange their tickets.
The rainout tickets will be good for Night 2 of the Tri-State Late Model Dash at DSFS, which is slated for 7 p.m. today. Anyone unable to use their tickets today can contact DSFS officials, and they will remedy the situation.
A total of 34 Tri-State Late Models were on hand for Thursday’s show before it was cancelled. Officials are expecting more late models for today’s racing program, which pays $4,000 to win.
Joining the late models for tonight’s program will be the WISSOTA street stocks and Midwest modifieds.
