CATONSVILLE, Md. — Donald “Fenoli or Fen” Fenelon, 73, of Catonsville, Md. passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017, of aspiration pneumonia (cigarette smoking).
A memorial service was held Sunday, June 11, at the Candle Light Funeral Home in Catonsville.
The youngest of five children, he was born in Mobridge and raised in Aberdeen. He graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1961, and from NSU in 1965. He worked in the Social Security Administration office in Huron and then moved to the SSA central office in Baltimore, Md. as a programmer. He met his wife, Christine Fenelon at a programming class in 1969.
He enjoyed his work at the SSA, but retired early at 48, when the SSA was changing his job. He was very good at his job and helped SSA change from paper forms to magnetic tape for transmission and storage of earnings information.
He was full of jokes and entertained all he met by keeping them laughing. Don loved to fish (walleye), play pool, play video poker and regular poker, bowl, play softball, play volleyball and play fantasy golf. He loved hunting when he was younger (pheasant mostly). He loved anything South Dakota. He followed anybody on the web who played sports and was from S.D. He was very intelligent and loved talking to anybody about anything.
Don and Christine had no children together, but Chris has a son, Jeff Sutch who lives in Seattle. Don’s sister, Mary Cooper is the only sibling still alive and has two sons. His brother, Bill had one daughter.
