HURON — Harvey Bauer, age 77, of Huron, passed away Monday, March 4, 2019, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
His funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 16, at Living Hope Alliance Church. Military honors will be conducted by the Huron Veterans Council. Burial will be in a cemetery at Wilmont, Minn. at a later date. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. that Saturday at the church.
Harvey Alton Bauer was born March 27, 1941, at Roscoe to John and Anna (Pleinis) Bauer. He attended school at Roscoe. He joined the U. S. Navy at the age of 17. After his honorable discharge, Harvey moved back to S.D. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Currans July 3, 1976. He worked in a variety of positions, including an Army Recruiter at Worthington, Minn. During that time, the family moved to Wilmont, Minn. In 2006, he moved to Huron to be closer to his daughter. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, tinkering on computers, and watching military and western movies.
He is survived by his daughter, Sherie (Chuck) Englert of Huron; grandson, Christopher Englert; siblings, Harold (Annie) Bauer of Gettysburg, and Lillian (Ray) Herr of Jamestown, N.D.; and his nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn; and nephew, Neal Bauer.
