Keo Lavon Smith, 101, of Rapid City

RAPID CITY — Keo Lavon Smith, 101, of Rapid City, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m.,  Wednesday, October 4, at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date.
Keo Lavon was born June 3, 1916, in Willow Lake to Ernest L. Glidden and Alta A. Skinner. She attended Willow Lake High School and later went on to get a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from South Dakota State University in 1937. She was united in marriage to Dwight E. Smith September 1, 1940.
She was very active in community clubs such as the Canyon Lake Senior Center, Rimrockers Club, Big Bend Presbyterian Church, and Rimrock Community Church. She retired from the Chicago area in 1964, and moved to Lake Kampeska at Watertown, and the Black Hills. She enjoyed traveling, square dancing, golf, bowling, bridge, hunting and fishing. She did relief pharmacy until 1987. Keo was very interested in the SDSU foundation and the Black Hills Children’s Home.
She is survived by her nephews, Duane Franklin of Lone Tack, Mo. and family, Darrell Franklin of Mission, Kan. and family; many beloved cousins; and special friend, Glenn Brad Ford and family.  
She was preceded in death by her husband; and cousin, Larry Cornell who was like a brother.
