To the Editor:
The U.S. House members just voted on holding Steve Bannon in contempt, for refusing to appear before the committee that is investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection.
It’s not that only nine Republicans voted for the contempt charge, while 202 voted against the rule of law. Bannon has thumbed his nose at Congress and the Republicans are saying it is alright to break the law.
I am wondering why?
Dusty Johnson voted against upholding the rule of law and I have already contacted his office for an explanation for his vote.
Our democracy is in trouble if one party is willing to overlook the law, to protect people of their party. It seems the Republican party is okay with people flaunting the law even though they have always claimed to be the party of law and order.
It is troubling that after more than 60 lawsuits were filed, claiming fraud in the election, and despite all these cases failing, we are still hearing that there was fraud in the election.
