SoDak 16 pairings for all three classes in girls' basketball

HURON —Four area girls’ basketball teams are just a win away from reaching the state tournament.

Their opportunity will come Thursday with the SoDak 16 begin played in all three classes.

Class AA
Huron enters the postseason with a 9-11 record and will be the No. 10 seed. The Tigers will travel to play No. 7 Rapid City Stevens, which is 13-7, at 6 p.m. MT.

Sioux Falls Washington, with a 17-3 record, is the top seed in Class AA and will host No. 16 Sioux Falls Roosevelt (1-19) at 6 p.m.

In the other Class AA SoDak 16 matchups, No. 2 Pierre (17-3) hosts No. 15 Brookings (5-15) at 6 p.m.; No. 3 O’Gorman (16-4) hosts No. 14 Rapid City Central (6-14) at 5 p.m.; No. 4 Sioux Falls Jefferson (16-4) hosts No. 13 Aberdeen Central (7-11) at 6 p.m.; No. 5 Brandon Valley (15-5) hosts No. 12 Mitchell (8-12) at 6 p.m.; No. 6 Harrisburg (15-5) hosts No. 11 Spearfish (10-9) at 6 p.m.; and No. 8 Watertown (11-9) hosts No. 9 Sioux Falls Lincoln (8-12) at 7 p.m.

The Class AA State Tournament will be held March 9-11 in Sioux Falls.

Class A
Miller went 18-4 this season to earn the No. 9 seed in the Class A SoDak 16. The Rustlers will face No. 8 Rapid City Christian, which is also 18-4, at 6 p.m. MT in Philip.

Hamlin, which is undefeated at 21-0, is the top seed in Class A and will face No. 16 Milbank (14-7) at 7 p.m. In Watertown.

Here is a look at the rest of the Class A matchups: No. 2 Wagner (21-1) vs. No. 15 Tea Area (13-9) at 6 p.m., in Mitchell; No. 3 Sioux Falls Christian (20-2) vs. No. 14 Lennox (16-6) at 7 p.m., in Harrisburg; No. 4 Red Cloud (19-2) vs. No. 13 Garretson (15-7) in Winner at 6 p.m.; No. 5 St. Thomas More (17-4) vs. No. 12 Flandreau (18-4) in Pierre at 6 p.m.; No. 6 Lakota Tech (18-4) vs. No. 11 Dupree (17-5) at Rapid City Central at 6 p.m. MT;and No. 7 Sisseton (19-2) vs. No. 10 Parkston (16-6) in Volga at 7 p.m.

The Class A State Tournament will be held March 9-11 at the Watertown Civic Arena.

Class B
With a record of 20-2, Wolsey-Wessington is the top seed for the Class B SoDak 16. The Lady Warbirds will face No. 16 Leola/Frederick Area (16-6) at Huron Arena at 6 p.m.

In a second game at Huron Arena, No. 6 Howard (18-4) will play No. 11 Wessington Springs (16-6) at 7:30 p.m.

Here is a look at the rest of the Class B matchups: No. 2 Ethan (19-2) vs. No. 15 Corsica-Stickey (13-8) in Mitchell at 7:30 p.m.; No. 3 Viborg-Hurley (19-3) vs. No. 14 Lyman (14-7) in Salem at 6 p.m.; No. 4 Sully Buttes (19-3) vs. No. 13 Harding County (14-8) in Mobridge at 7 p.m.; No. 5 Wall (17-5) vs. No. 12 Warner (16-6) in Ft. Pierre at 6:30 p.m.; No. 7 Castlewood (15-7) vs. No. 10 Timber Lake (16-5) in Redfield at 6 p.m.; and No. 8 Jones County (17-4) vs. No. 9 Centerville (17-5) in Chamberlain at 6 p.m.

The Class B State Tournament will be held March 9-11 at Huron Arena.
