ABERDEEN — Tena L. Perez, 67, of Aberdeen, formerly of Huron, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Sanford Medical Center, in Fargo, N.D.
Memorial Services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 7, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 1757 S. Lawson St. in Aberdeen.
Tena was born February 18, 1951, in Huron to Fortino “Teno” (Cante) and Fernanda ‘Ferne’ Perez. She was raised and attended school in Huron graduating from Huron High School in 1970. She was baptized in 1974, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She met William Teply and together they had a daughter Angela Marie.
She was known for being a caring advocate for disadvantaged persons. She worked many years assisting people with developmental disabilities in Huron. Later in life, she moved to Aberdeen so she could be closer to family.
She was a free spirit and enjoyed listening to The Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Bob Dylan. She also loved animals, many of which she raised and treated as children.
She is survived by her daughter, Angela Olson of Bismarck, N.D.; her sister, Rosemary (Leroy) Humann of Vista, Calif.; sister-in-law, Candace Perez of Aberdeen; nephews, Antonio (Jessica) Perez , John (Andrea) Perez of Aberdeen, Daniel (Faleisha) Perez of Fargo, N.D.; her cat Noche; and many loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John Allen and Thomas Perez; and her sister, Jeana Marie Perez.
