HURON — James Valley Christian earned its second win of the season with a sweep against De Smet on Tuesday.

The Lady Vikings, who improved to 2-4, won the match with set scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-18.

Brenna Held recorded eight kills on 20 of 21 hitting to lead JVC. Julia Blom had seven kills on 17 of 22 spikes, while Josalyn Wipf was 19 of 19 with five kills.

Colleen Wipf was perfect on 14 serves with three aces for the Lady Vikings, while Held had three aces on 11 of 11 serving and Karilyn Wieting had a pair of aces on 12 of 13 serving.

Wieting also led JVC with 15 assists on 87 of 91 sets. Held tallied a team-high seven blocks, while Olivia Rink was 8 of 10 digging and Angelina Zuccaro was 6 of 9 digging.

Kennadi Buchholz finished with 16 kills on 30 of 32 spikes for De Smet, which is now 3-8. Olivia Johnson was 16 of 22 hitting with five kills, while Cori Birkel had four kills on 9 of 10 spikes.

Ella Poppinga was 11 of 15 serving with an ace for the Lady Bulldogs, while Birkel was 12 of 13 with an ace.

Emma Albrecht was 29 of 19 setting with 10 assists for De Smet, while Katelyn Halverson was 10 of 13 with five assists.

Buchholz had 14 digs and three blocks, while Albrecht had 12 digs.

JVC will host Wolsey-Wessington in a 281 Conference matchup on Thursday, while De Smet will face Clark/Willow Lake in Willow Lake on Sept. 29.

Clark/Willow Lake 3, Lake Preston 0
LAKE PRESTON — The Clark/Willow Lake Cyclones traveled to Lake Preston and swept the Divers in straight sets, 25-17, 25-23, 25-13.

Clark/Willow Lake moves to 5-4 with the victory. The Cyclones were led by Erica Juntunen with 19 kills on the night.

Allison Kannegieter posted 11 digs and recorded five service aces on the night for Clark/Willow Lake. Morgan Burke led the team with 24 assists.

The Divers fall to 0-11 on the year. Ava Malone led the team with 16 digs while Jocelyn Steffensen pitched in 14 digs and recorded two service aces.

The Cyclones travel to Groton on Thursday.


Hitchcock-Tulare 3, Redfield 1
TULARE — Hitchcock-Tulare used set scores of 22-25, 25-19, 25-11 and 25-13 to get past Redfield 3-1 on Monday.

Madison Hofer was 24 of 25 spiking with 12 kills to lead the Lady Patriots, who improved to 6-2. Danynn Peterson added eight kills on 17 of 18 hitting.

Katelyn Schroeder converted on 22 of 23 serves with four aces, while Hofer was 18 of 19 serving with two aces. Kenidee Enander was perfect on 95 sets with 28 assists.

Defensively, Cassidy Johnson had a team-high 15 digs. Schroeder finished with 12 digs, whiel Peterson had a solo and two assisted blocks.

Courtney Turck and Addie Rozell had 10 and nine kills, respetively, to lead Redfield.

Camryn Rohlfs was 14 of 15 serving with two aces and was 70 of 70 setting with 18 assists.

Rozell also recorded a team-high 12 digs for the Lady Pheasants, who are now 2-4.
