HURON — Rough defense and quiet bats hurt the Huron Tigers Friday as they dropped a doubleheader to the O’Gorman Knights in Sioux Falls, 5-3 and 4-0.

In the opener, the Knights only scored in two innings, but took advantage of three Tiger errors to score five unearned runs for the victory.

Jack Pederson got the start, going three innings, allowing five unearned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out three. Tommie Martin closed out the game with three shutout innings of relief, allowing one hit.

Gabe Waldner was the lone Tiger with multiple hits, rapping out two singles. Carsen Evans had a double and a single while Peyton Bischoff had a single and a walk. Bubba Peterson, Logan Leyendecker, and Bischoff each had a stolen base for Huron.

Ryan Arbogast of the Knights completely stifled the Huron offense in the nightcap, tossing a complete game shutout as the Tigers fell 4-0.

Evans opened the game on the mound for Huron, throwing three innings, allowing four runs, two earned, on five hits and two walks while striking out one. Leyendecker completed the game with three scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit and one walk, striking out one.

The Huron offense was only able to scrape together seven baserunners all game against Arbogast. Trace Wenz and Evans led the way with a pair of singles each. Bischoff added a single and was hit by pitch.

The Tigers are back in action tonight, hosting Jefferson at Klock Field for a doubleheader, starting at 5 p.m.
