Eighth graders finish 1-2 against Mitchell

HURON — Mitchell won two of three matches against the Huron eighth-grade volleyball team on Thursday.

The Kernels won the A-match using set scores of 30-28 and 25-19.
Arian Pfitzer had five kills on 9 of 10 spikes to lead Huron. Ramsey Rozell was 8 of 8 attacking with four kills, while Autumn Siedschlag was 5 of 7 with four kills. Jayla Schley added three kills on 10 of 13 hitting.

Rozell recorded a pair of aces on 11 of 13 serving for the Tigers. Cora Wilk was 10 of 10 with an ace, while Talley Hins was 7 of 8 with an ace and Seidschlag had an ace on 2 of 6 serving.

Schley inked three blocks, while Rozell and Hins finished with nine and seven assists, respectively.

After pulling out a 26-24 win in the opening set, Mitchell won the B-match with a 25-19 decision in the second set.

Laney Marshall was perfect on eight spikes with three kills for the Tigers. Zemi Severence was 14 of 14 hitting with two kills, while Rebeccah Htoo, Jesse Mattke and Andrea Estrada each had a kill.

Severance converted on 10 of 11 serves with three aces, while Hser Htoo also had three aces on 5 of 6 serving. Nevaeh Garcia, Estrada and Hannah Paw each had an ace.

Severance also recorded four assists for the Tigers.

Huron’s C-team earned its first win of the season against the Kernels.

The set scores were 25-19, 19-25 and 15-9.

Jazmine Clark led the Tigers with two kills on 3 of 5 attacks. Adalyn Dorn also had a kill.

Eh Hter Say tallied six aces on 10 of 13 serving for Huron. Garcia was 16 of 16 serving with four aces, while Hossannah Dah had three aces on 4 of 6 serves, and Ovilla Mendanca was 6 of 8 serving with an ace.
