Cutshaw finished the season strong and became an alternate to the National Tournament in Des Moines, IA in June.

At the awards ceremony, the SDFCA honored 16 outstanding seniors in four senior award categories. Awards given were the Karl E. Mundt and Donus D. Roberts in debate, the Harold Jordan award for individual events, and the Rosella Blunk award for oral interpretation.
