HURON — Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) and the Huron School District are excited to announce a partnership to expand High School Health Science courses.

The Huron School District has hired Rita Baszler, RN, as the Health Science Instructor and plans to offer Certified Nursing Assistant, Introduction to Emergency Medical Services and Medical Terminology.

One or two classes are planned for the 2022-2023 school year, with additional courses in the coming years, based on student interest. The HRMC board of directors recently voted to donate $40,000 over the next two years so the Huron School District can purchase industry-standard equipment needed to teach the Health Science courses.

“Recruitment of future health care workers is, of course, one of HRMC’s top priorities,” said Erick Larson, president and CEO for HRMC. “I am truly excited to partner together in actualizing the School District’s vision and our shared investment in the future of our community and the commitment we have both made to be an influence for good in Huron, South Dakota!”
