HURON — Stanley C. Boltz, age 61, of Huron, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 202,4 at Huron Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service to celebrate Stan’s life is at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron. Memorial visitation with his family present is from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Saturday, Sept. 21, at Welter Funeral Home.
Stanley Christopher Boltz was born July 29, 1963 in Wheatridge, Colo., to Stanley Eaton Boltz and Dorothy (Ard) Boltz. He left this world a much better place for having been in it on September 18, 2024 at the age of 61.
Stan grew up in Colorado, and lived most of his childhood in Sterling, Colorado. In high school, he moved with his family to Lewellen, Neb., and then spent one year in high school living with his grandmother in Fort Collins, Colo., but graduated from Lewellen High School the following year in 1982.
Stan attended Chadron State College for two years, Abilene Christian University for q year and then transferred to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in agronomy in 1987.
It was in college that Stan met the love of his life, Nancy (Schrantz) Boltz and they were married in May, 1988. Stan worked for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (formerly Soil Conservation Service) in Elko, Nev. They were later transferred to Reno, Nevada. They lived in the Reno area for 10 years and this is where they adopted their first child, Zachary in April, 1997. Stan was later transferred to Rapid City, where their daughter Jessica was born in December, 1998. They lived in Rapid City for seven years before they were transferred to Huron, where they lived until his death.
Stan grew up loving the outdoors. He spoke fondly of his family camping trips to Poudre Canyon outside of Fort Collins. He loved to swim and boat with his family. Stan was a firm believer in conserving our natural resources and he loved his job with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. He was highly respected in his field by colleagues, farmers and ranchers.
Stan was an even better husband, father and grandfather. He had a quiet but loving demeanor. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren well. He had a great sense of humor and always thought of others before himself. He was a great example to his children of what a man, husband, father and grandfather should be.
The past three years Stan and Nancy have been raising their grandson Riley, who loved his grandfather dearly. He loved to go outside with Grandpa and water the flowers and their vegetable garden. He would ride with Grandpa on the riding lawn mower. Wherever Grandpa went Riley was his shadow. Stan had so much patience and love for Riley. When his second grandson, Kyrie, came along, he was so excited to be a great influence in his life as well. Stan’s passing has left a void that will never be filled.
Stan gave his heart to the Lord in September, 1983 and grew in his love for Jesus over the years. He loved to lead worship with his guitar. Stan had great musical ability, teaching himself how to play the acoustic guitar and bass guitar. He also played the French horn. He was always ready and willing to do any ministry in every church we attended. He was a deacon for many years and a respected leader in the church. We are grateful to know that Stan is with his loving heavenly father now waiting for Nancy to join him by the Benjamin Gate where they always said they would meet.
Stan leaves behind, to mourn his passing, his wife, Nancy, his children Zachary Boltz of Huron and Jessica Boltz of Huron, and two grandsons, Riley Boltz and Kyrie Howell. His brothers Willie Boltz, Ed Fritzler (Leann), Don Fritzler (Mary Jane), Cliff Transmeier (Julie), Steve Boltz, and Todd Transmeier. His sisters Marlene Noletubby (Dick) and Cynthia Vahtel (Erik). His sisters-in-law Sandi McCoy (Mike), Connie Nemecek, Patsy Cook (Stan) and his brother-in-law Russell Schrantz (Kayla). Many nieces and nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, his step-mother Karen Boltz, his brother Clay Boltz, his father and mother-in-law Glen and Vera Schrantz, and his brother-in-law Tracy.
