HURON The Huron 13/14U Tigers had one of their best offensive showings of the season Saturday, sweeping the Pierre 14U team by scores of 15-1 and 13-8 at Memorial Field.
In the opening game, the Tigers used a 10-run second inning to jump out to a big lead.
Four Huron pitchers combined on the victory. Colt Culver went 1 1/3 innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit and no walks, striking out one. Noah Koops pitched 2/3 inning, allowing one hit and striking out one.
Ryker Shelton and Quincey Rashaad each pitched a perfect inning of relief, with Rashaad having one strikeout.
Sean Janes had a double and a single while Jimmie Martin and Parker Bischoff each had a pair of singles. Ryker Shelton and Ernest Wallette each had a pair of walks.
Noah Koops had a walk and a single.
The Tigers stole 13 bases in the game. Bischoff stole four bases while Shelton and Janes each stole two. Culver, Wallette, Martin, Koops, and Jayden Ryman each had one steal.
After Pierre again pushed across the first run of the game in the first inning, Huron responded with four runs in the bottom of the second.
The visitors responded with five runs in the second inning, and the Tiger offense answered with seven runs in the bottom of the inning on the way to a 13-6 win.
Janes tossed two innings on the mound, allowing six runs on six hits and three walks. Martin closed out the game with a scoreless inning, walking three and striking out two.
Huron drew 15 walks as part of 21 base runners in the game. Martin had a single and two walks from the leadoff spot and stole four bases.
Four Tigers each drew two walks, as Culver, Shelton, Ryman, and Nate Gray each drew two free passes. Bischoff had a triple and a walk while Rashaad and Janes each had a single and a walk.
Culver, Wallette, and Janes each stole two bases.
Huron moves to 7-25-2 on the season.
