HURON The Beadle County Commission heard from potential neighbors before approving a conditional use permit for the Karen Christian Revival Church. The land being purchased is currently zoned for agriculture. Questions regarding increased traffic and potential tax loss within the county were addressed by the applicant before the commission gave approval.
The meeting opened with a report from Highway Supervisor Jason Fritzsche. The commission approved Foster Township to receive Rural Access Infrastructure Fund money through the county in the amount of $24,189.89. Commissioners also approved a bid from Asphalt Paving to resurface the detour for upcoming South Dakota Department of Transportation work on Hwy. 28.
The five-year township meeting was set for Tuesday, September 16.
Commissioners heard from two residents regarding 405th Ave. who were not able to be at the previous meeting.
Eric Senger from North Eastern Council of Governments (NECOG) talked with commissers regarding concerns due to lack of attendance at recent NECOG meetings across the agency, not just from Beadle County representatives.
Two plats were approved and approved transferring funds from general fund to Emergency Management and to the Highway Department.
The commission also reassigned commissioner departments and responsibilities.
The next meeting of the Beadle County Commission is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2.
