JVC’s Wipf named boys’ soccer Coach of the Year

HURON — Jory Wipf of James Valley Christian was named the Boys’ Soccer Coach of the Year by the South Dakota High School Coaches Association for the 2025 fall season.

Wipf guided the Vikings to a 14-1 record and a Class A state championship. It was the third state title for JVC during his tenure as coach, which spans 21 seasons.

The Vikings have just one losing season with Wipf at the helm.

Wipf, along with the rest of the Coach of the Year recipients will be honored during a ceremony at 1 p.m., on e July 19 at the Mitchell High School Performing Arts Center.

The other 2025 Fall Coach of the Year recipients are Kirk Hogen of Vermillion (boys’ golf); Jason Olson of Rapid City Stevens (girls’ tennis); Tyler Schuring of Yankton (girls’ soccer); Eve Langrock of Harrisburg (cheer); Ashley Hoffman of Brandon Valley (dance); Ralph Kroetch of Philip (boys’ cross country); Todd Thorson of Ipswich (girls’ cross country); Lex Heathershaw of Wall (football); and Jean O’Hara of Chester (volleyball).
