BROOKINGS –– Jacqueline “Jackie” DeHaven, age 92, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2026, at The Neighborhoods at Brookview in Brookings. As per Jackie’s wishes, no services are to be held.

Jacqueline J. DeHaven was born December 16, 1933, in Huron, the daughter of Lewis and Lula (Mattke) Allen. Jackie attended Wilson Grade School in Huron, and was a graduate of the Huron High School in 1951. She was employed as a clerical clerk at Motive Parts in Huron. She later was employed in the housekeeping dept. at Huron Regional Hospital and Huron Nursing Home. Jackie also worked as the Office Administrator at Beadle County Highway Department in Huron. She was united in marriage to Thomas De Haven in Las Vegas on October 14, 1956. They later divorced in 1970.

Her hobbies included going to rummage sales and working on jigsaw puzzles. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, and spending time with her family and friends.

Jackie was predeceased by her parents, her three brothers, Everett, Gary and LeLand Allen, her two sister-in laws, Vivian and Patricia, and one brother-in law, Dean Howland.

Jackie is survived by one son, Rod Paul DeHaven and his wife Tami of Brookings and three grandchildren, Addison of Brookings, Graham of San Diego, Calif., and Quinn of New Orleans, La.; siblings, Ronnie Allen of Huron and La Jean Howland of Appleton, Wisc., and a special friend, Connie McFarland of Brookings.
