Free tree distribution at Petricore
Thursday, April 23, 10 –1 1:45 a.m.
Join us at Petricore (203 Kansas Ave SE) as we celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day. The Huron Public Library is partnering with Petricore to give away free Colorado spruce saplings to the first 100 attendees—perfect for planting in your yard or local parks. Trees are generously provided by the Beadle County Conservation District. This event brings together community, nature, and the joy of reading.

Spring is in full swing at the Huron Public Library! April is packed with programs and fun for families of all ages. Weekly programming continues throughout the month:
Bubbles & Books Storytime – Tuesdays at 11 a.m.
Homeschool activities – Wednesdays at 11 a.m.
After the Bell programming continues with an Early Release session scheduled for April 15 from 1:30–3:15 p.m. Registration required.
Afterschool programs will take place on Wednesdays, April 8, 22, and 29 at 4 p.m., providing hands-on activities and enrichment for elementary-aged students. Registration is required.
Younger children ages 0–4 can enjoy Music Makers with Emily Salinas on April 11 at 10 a.m., a fun and interactive experience centered around music and movement. Registration is required.

Book Taste Café, Wednesday, April 1, 4 p.m.
Students in kindergarten through third grade are invited to enjoy stories paired with themed treats inspired by the books. Tween and teen volunteers will bring the stories to life by reading aloud to younger participants, creating a fun and engaging shared reading experience. Registration required.
National grilled cheese month, Tuesday, April 21, 4 – 4:45 p.m.
Celebrate with teen-prepared grilled cheese sandwiches, fun activities, and a scavenger hunt during National Library Week. All ages!!

Clay pot bunny craft, Friday, April 3, 10 a.m.
Join in the fun! We will be making a clay pot bunny just in time for Easter. Registration required.
Among Us in real lif, Friday, April 3, 5 p.m.
Play a live-action version of the popular game. Complete tasks, spot the imposter, and work as a team. Limited to 14 participants. Registration required.
Highlight event! Easter Extravaganza, Monday, April 6, 10 a.m.
Ready for an adventure beyond the library walls? Kick things off at the library, where you’ll receive your first book-based clues. Then buckle up—because this hunt goes mobile. Ride along with library staff as you travel across town solving clues, completing challenges, and racing to the next stop in a city-wide scavenger hunt. Expect teamwork, quick thinking, laughs, and a whole lot of fun as books lead the way to unexpected places. Registration is required.
Hoop Air-Plane STEM Challenge, Wednesday, April 8, 3:35 p.m.
Can you harness the power of air? Join us for a hands-on STEM activity where you’ll design and build your own Hoop Air-Plane! Test your creation and see how far it can fly. Perfect for curious minds who love to build, experiment, and discover! Registration is required.

Money Smart & Pizza Party! No school? Spend your early release learning how to make your money work for YOU! Join us for Money Smart Week as local bank manager Ryan Maxted shares real-life tips on saving, budgeting, and smart spending — all while enjoying pizza! Registration is required.
Laser Tag, Friday, April 24, 5 p.m.
Fast-paced laser tag battles with rotating game rounds so everyone gets a turn. Space is limited. Registration required.
Captain America Shield, Tuesday, April 28, 3:45 p.m.
National Superhero Day: Cardboard Craft Challenge! In honor of National Superhero Day, we’re building our own flying Captain America shields inspired by Captain America! Join us for a 2-hour creative build session where you’ll design your shield using cardboard, hot glue, and decorations to make it uniquely yours. Then, we’ll test to see if your shield can really fly! Registration required.
In addition, the library will participate in the Career Fair at the Huron Arena on Wednesday, April 22, inviting students and families to explore a variety of career paths.
