Iroquois FCCLA member Madi Burma recently presented her Chapter Service Project Display at the State Leadership Conference, highlighting a heartfelt initiative supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Inspired by a personal connection within the chapter, Madi and fellow FCCLA members focused their efforts on helping families who are staying near hospitals while their children receive medical care. Recognizing the emotional and financial challenges these families face, the chapter organized a variety of service activities to provide comfort and support.
Through donation drives, fundraising events like Hat Day and Jeans Day, and a school-wide Pop Tab War, the chapter collected approximately 120 pounds of pop tabs, 28 birthday kits, toys, paper products, and other essential items. The birthday kits, which included cake supplies and decorations, were designed to help families celebrate special moments even during difficult times.
The collected supplies were delivered by the chapter while attending the FCCLA State Leadership Conference in Sioux Falls, allowing students to see firsthand the impact of their efforts and complete the project in a meaningful way.
Madi demonstrated strong leadership by organizing events, promoting participation, and adapting strategies to increase involvement across the school and community. Her project not only provided valuable resources to families in need but also helped raise awareness about the mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Through this experience, Madi and the Iroquois FCCLA chapter strengthened their skills in teamwork, communication, and community service—while making a meaningful impact on families during some of their most challenging moments.
