Iroquois FCCLA hosts pop tab war for Ronald McDonald House

The Iroquois FCCLA chapter recently hosted an elementary pop tab war, collecting donations for the Ronald McDonald House.

The event was organized by FCCLA member Madi Burma as part of her STAR Event, Chapter Service Project Display, which focuses on giving back to the community through service projects.

Students across the elementary school participated, collecting pop tabs throughout the competition. Final results were:

• 3rd Grade – 41 lbs (1st place)

• 5th Grade – 17 lbs (tie for 2nd)

• 2nd Grade – 17 lbs (tie for 2nd)

• 4th Grade – 15.5 lbs (3rd place)

• 1st Grade – 11 lbs

• Kindergarten – 6.5 lbs

• Preschool – 2 lbs

The initial total came to 110 pounds of pop tabs.

After results were announced, even more tabs were turned in, bringing the total to over 120 pounds collected.

The project was a great example of students working together to support families in need while building leadership and service skills through FCCLA.
