HURON After going 4-5 through the regular season, the Huron Tigers will be the No. 7 seed for the Class 11AA football playoffs.
The Tigers will open the postseason Thursday, traveling to face second-seeded Watertown, which is 7-2. Game time for the matchup has not been announced.
Yankton is the top seed in 11AA with a 7-2 record and will host No. 8 Aberdeen Central (3-6) at 7 p.m. Thursday. Fourth-seeded Pierre (5-4) hosts No. 5 Spearfish (6-3) at 6 p.m., while third-seeded Brookings (7-2) hosts No. 6 Tea Area (5-4).
Class 11B
After recording an upset in the opening round of the Class 11B playoffs, No. 10 Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central (7-2) will travel to face second-seeded Winner (9-0) in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Game time has not been announced for the matchup.
In the other quarterfinal matchups for Class 11B, top-seeded Sioux Valley (9-0) hosts No. 9 Mobridge-Pollock (7-2) at 6 p.m.; fourth-seeded Elk Point-Jefferson (7-2) hosts No. 5 Clark/Willow Lake (7-2); and third-seeded Mt. Vernon/Plankinton (7-2) hosts No. 11 St. Thomas More (7-2).
Class 9A
Fourth-seed Wolsey-Wessington (8-1) will host No. 12 Dupree (6-3) in the Class 9A quarterfinals on Thursday. Kickoff time for the game has not been set.
In other Class 9A quarterfinal games on Thursday, top-seeded Wall (9-0) hosts No. 9 Castlewood (6-3) at 6 p.m. MT; second-seeded Howard (9-0) hosts No. 7 Ipswich (7-2) at 6 p.m.; and third-seeded Warner (9-0) hosts No. 6 Philip (7-2) at 7 p.m.
Class 11AAA
Top-seeded Brandon Valley (9-0) will host No. 8 Sioux Falls Washington (2-7) in the opening round at 6 p.m. Thursday.
In the other Class 11AAA opening round matchups on Thursday, second-seeded Sioux Falls Lincoln (8-1) will face No. 7 Rapid City Central (2-7) at 4 p.m., at Howard Wood Field; third-seed Harrisburg (7-2) will host No. 6 Sioux Falls Roosevelt (3-6) at 6 p.m.; and fourth-seeded Sioux Falls Jefferson (6-3) faces No. 5 OGorman (5-4) at 7 p.m., at Howard Wood Field.
Class 11A
In the opening round of the Class 11A playoffs on Thursday, top-seeded Sioux Falls Christian (9-0) will host No. 8 Rapid City Christian at 7 p.m.
Second-seeded Dell Rapids (7-2) will host No. 7 Dakota Valley (5-4) at 7 p.m.; third-seeded Lennox (7-2) will host No. 6 Canton (4-5) at 7 p.m.; and fourth-seeded West Central (6-3) will host No. 5 Madison (6-3) at 7 p.m.
Class 9AA
Top-seeded Parkston (9-0) will host No. 8 Leola/Frederick Area (7-2) in the Class 9AA quarter finals on Thursday at 7 p.m..
In the other 9AA quarter-final matchups, second-seeded Hamlin (9-0) hosts No. 7 Viborg-Hurley (7-2) at 7 p.m.; third-seeded Elkton-Lake Benton (8-1) hosts No. 11 Hanson (5-4) at 6:30 p.m.; and fourth-seeded Hill City (8-1) hosts No. 5 Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy (7-2) at 6 p.m. MT.
Class 9B
Top-seeded Avon (8-1) will host No. 8 Canistota (6-3) in the Class 9B quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Thursday.
In other 9B quarter-final matchups on Thursday, second-seeded Faulkton Area (7-2) hosts No. 10 Colman-Egan (5-4) at 7 p.m.; third-seeded Dell Rapids St. Mary (8-1) hosts No. 6 Kadoka Area (6-3) at 3 p.m.; and fourth-seeded Corsica-Stickney (7-2) hosts No. 5 Sully Buttes (8-1) at 6 p.m.
The winners in each class will advance to the semifinals, which are scheduled for Nov. 8.
