City Commissioners meeting planned
• Huron city commissioners Monday will consider hiring a police officer and a full-time scale operator at the solid waste department.
They will set Sept. 11 as the public hearing date to consider a special event on-sale alcoholic beverage license filed by the Red Arrow Bar for a benefit to be held Sept. 23.
Commissioners will set Sept. 11 as the public hearing date to consider transferring a retail on-sale liquor license from Bucky’s Restaurant and Lounge to the Tailgate.
They will consider approving requests for alcoholic beverage consumption in a public area for Coborn’s for a company picnic on Sept. 23 at Ravine Lake east shelter and for South Dakota JCI Senate for a regional meeting hospitality tent on Oct. 6-8 south of the Crossroads Hotel.
Commissioners will also have a work session to continue drafting the 2018 city budget.
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. in the municipal building.
Huron School Board to host meeting Monday
• The Huron School District Board of Education meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday evening at the Instructional Planning Center in the Huron Arena.
The board will consider new personnel for employment in the district, a report will be heard on the School Nutrition Program and a second reading of the Teacher Assistance Teams process handbook will also be heard.
The public is welcome to attend.
