Arliss Hapney, 78, of Harrold

 HARROLD — Arliss Jean Hapney, 78, of Harrold, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017, at Avera Mary House Hospice in Pierre surrounded by her family.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 8, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harrold. Burial will follow in Medicine Hill Cemetery at Harrold. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m., Sunday with a 4 p.m. prayer service all at Luze Funeral Home in Highmore.
Arliss was born June 1, 1939, in Winner to Roy and Frieda (Knittle) Holle. She graduated from high school in Isabel and then attended business and airline college in Minneapolis and Washington, D.C., where she went to work for Capitol Airlines in Chicago. She was united in marriage to George Hapney June 3, 1960 in Pierre. She went to work for the South Dakota Department of Social Services in 1985, retiring in 2000. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harrold.  
She is survived by her husband, George; children, Randy (Kim Fordham) Hapney, Rod Hapney both of Harrold,  and Susan (Ryan) Weekly of Pierre; sister, Janet Scharffenberg; sisters-in-law, Jean Holle and Mildred (Raymond) Salathe; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren with another expected in March.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dave Holle;  brother-in-law, Everett Hapney; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Arliss’ arrangements.
