ABERDEEN — Betty A. Orr, 79, of Aberdeen, formerly of Wessington, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017, at her home.
Her memorial service was held Thursday, April 27. A private family interment will take place in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Aberdeen at a later date.
Betty Ann Harrington was born January 17, 1938, near Burdette to Harold and Alice (Walton) Harrington. She graduated from Wessington High at the top of her class in 1956.
She was united in marriage to Lyle “Tuffy” Orr June 17, 1956. The family resided in Wessington until 1965, when they moved to Aberdeen. She and Tuffy shared over 60 years of marriage.
Betty was involved in bowling, serving on the Aberdeen Women’s Bowling Association Board of Directors for 30+ years. She was inducted into the Aberdeen Women’s Hall of Fame in 2005. She participated in Senior Games around the state. She and Tuffy were inducted into the State Senior Games Hall of Fame in 2010.
She is survived by her children, Denise (Ray) Huber, and David Orr; three grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; three stepgreat-granddaughters; sisters, Evelyn Butts, and Dorothy (Kieth) Willard; brother, Richard (Jeannie) Harrington; and many friends, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Tuffy; her parents; sister, Joan Davis; and brother-in-law, Jack Duxbury.
