The Agriculture Committee of the Huron Chamber & Visitors Bureau has awarded a total $2,000 in Ag Scholarships to three area students.
Winners are Danielle Nowell of Hitchcock, left, $1,000 scholarships; and Dilyn Brooks of Woonsocket, center, and Rachel Derksen of Huron, right, who received $500 each.
Each recipient will receive their funding at the start of their second semester at the University or Technical College in South Dakota that they will be attending.
• Nowell is the daughter of Joshua and Kasey Nowell of Hitchcock. She graduated from Hitchcock-Tulare High School with plans to attend South Dakota State University in the fall. She plans to major in Ag Communications.
• Dilyn Brooks is the daughter of John and Elizabeth Brooks of Woonsocket. She graduated from Woonsocket High School and plans to attend Lake Area Technical College in the fall majoring in Agriculture / Livestock Production and Management.
• Rachel Derksen is the daughter of John and Carrie Derksen of Huron. She graduated from Huron High School and plans to attend South Dakota State University in the fall majoring in Animal Science with a minor in Ag Business.
