HURON - Huron City Commission met Friday afternoon for a special meeting to have a second reading of the emergency ordinance, Ordinance No. 2207, relating to business closure and restrictions in the city due to community spread of COVID-19. The commissioners approved the second reading.
The Huron Solid Waste Department issued a statement that, beginning Monday, the city rubble site would be open by appointment only, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appointments can be made at swscale@huronsd.com or by calling 353-8542.
Commissioners also discussed the recently passed HR 6201, the ‘second phase’ of the stimulus bills, by Congress. This bill requires compliance with sick leave requirements in the bill, and commissioners approved complying with the bill.
That decision will be discussed as part of the next regular city council meeting Monday at 5:30 p.m. Huron residents are encouraged to locate the City of Huron channel on YouTube and watch the meeting live.
