Beadle County Genealogy to meet
HURON — The Beadle County Genealogy Group will be meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Dakota Room at the Huron Public Library.
This is an open discussion group that shares an interest in Genealogy research, and this will be the planning session for 2018. If you have any ideas for topic discussion, programs, or classes, please bring them to the meeting.
New members are always welcome. The group meets on the third Thursday of each month at the library.

Diamonds & Denim planned Jan. 27
HURON — Holy Trinity Catholic School’s annual Diamonds & Denim Auction and Gala will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Campus Center. Tickets ($30 each) are on sale now at Holy Trinity school and parish office, or by calling 352-9344 or 350-6651. Please purchase tickets by Jan. 19. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Breakfast to benefit First UMC youth
HURON — A pancake breakfast fundraiser for a First United Methodist Church youth mission trip is planned from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, at First UMC.
A freewill donation will be accepted for the meal. All proceeds will fund a youth mission trip to Racine, Wis., June 16-23 to help with flood recovery work.

The event will include a silent auction featuring a metal eagle sculpture, chainsaw bear carving, gift certificates and more.

NAMI-Huron to meet Wednesday
HURON — NAMI-Huron will discuss the Eight Dimensions of Wellness from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Drop-In Center, 255 Iowa Ave. S.E.People will be invited to set personal goals for 2018. Nachos and cheese will be served.
Everyone is invited to attend. If you need transportation call Lois at 350-9516.

Washington School plans Winter Carnival
HURON — Washington School 4-5 Center is planning a Winter Carnival from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27.
Tickets are a quarter each and food will be available for purchase. There will be traditional carnival games and much more!
Everyone is welcome to attend.

Wolsey Senior Center plans dinner Tuesday
HURON — The Wolsey Senior Center is planning a special dinner Tuesday in Wolsey.
There will be bingo and card playing. Please make reservations by calling 883-4208. Everyone is welcome.

PAH and Cardiac support groups to meet
HURON — Attendees at the next meeting of the Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension and Cardiac support groups will enjoy lunch and a presentation by a visiting cardiologist on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at noon in the HRMC Legacy Plaza auditorium. This will be a combined meeting of both groups.
Join Dr. Naveen Rajpurohit, a visiting cardiologist with Sanford Heart, to learn how to be heart smart and keep your heart healthy by following Life’s Simple 7 actions. Attendees are invited to wear red to help kick-off National Heart Month in February to raise awareness of heart disease and prevention. Lunch will be provided by Sanford Health and the public is invited. Please RSVP to 605-353-6531.
The Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) support group provides support and education for patients who suffer from high blood pressure of the lungs. The group typically meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m., in the Dakota-Heartland room on the lower level of the HRMC Central Tower.
The “Heart Smart Cardiac – Better Breathers Pulmonary Support Group” promotes support and education for community members who have heart and lung disease and for family members who have loved ones that have been affected with the disease. The group typically meets the third Wednesday of the month at noon. For more information about both support groups, call 605-353-6531.
