HURON — While the big numbers from Thanksgiving weekend will be in Tuesday’s release from the South Dakota Department of Health (DOH) that includes the weekend numbers, Monday’s report pushed both Beadle County and the Heartland Region to the largest case numbers in a single month in 2021.
While still feasibly possible, it would take a significant amount to push the state beyond September’s numbers to the top month statewide, though November has already locked in the second-most infectious month of the year in COVID in 2021. Monday’s DOH report added 575 new positive cases, eight new deaths, and 394 new recovered cases statewide. This added notably to the active caseload for the state, which now sits at 7,253.
Beadle County added 10 new positive cases and five new recovered cases in Monday’s numbers. Active cases in the county rose to 101.
Beadle currently reports 162 new positive cases in November, with a large reporting day ahead.
The Heartland Region noted 27 new positive cases and 14 new recovered cases in Monday’s DOH report. One new death was reported in Spink County, the 29th death in the county and the 125th in the seven-county region.
The Heartland currently reports 204 active COVID cases.
