HURON — Douglas H. Bell, 60, of Huron, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 16, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, with interment in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron followed by a Sharing of Memories at 7 p.m. or visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
Doug was born February 17, 1957, in Burbank, Calif. to Richard and Dora (Di Palma) Bell. The family moved to the Huron area where he received his education, graduating from Huron High School. He spent many years working at Asphalt Paving and Material followed by 20 plus years in the city of Huron Sewer and Water Department.
Doug’s first marriage to Lori Hofer created two incredible young men, Justin and Jason. Lori passed in 1993. His second wife, Theresa (Barnett) Bell and her daughter Shayla, became a part of their family New Years Eve of 1998.
Doug is survived by his wife, Theresa of Huron; children, Justin (Amber) Bell of Pierre, Jason (Shalace) Bell of Mitchell, and Shayla of Huron; four grandchildren; sisters, Barb Sammons of Huron, Nancy Eveleth of Sioux Falls, and Renee (Wayne) Hanson of Huron; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Lori.
