‘Family Night’ activities return to Campbell Park on Thursday

HURON — It is summer again and time for the return of the Thursday night Family Activities in Campbell Park.
This year’s schedule of activities, the 32nd annual series of events will begin the activities June 14 and continue through Pie in the Park on August 16.
Here is the lineup for this summer:
June 14 - Beginning at 6:15 p.m., there is a Flag Day Ceremony, presented by the Huron Elks 444. Following the ceremony, the Elks will provide a brat and burger feed in honor of all the veterans. At 7 p.m., Jodi Jensen will provide music, followed by the Huron Municipal Band beginning at 8 p.m.
June 21 - The Huron Public Library presents the Rocking Red group, which will perform from 7-8 p.m., followed by the  Municipal Band.
June 28 - New this year is a band out of Watertown called “Fallgallop,” who will perform from 7-8 p.m.. Fallgallop is Sponsored by Huron Park and Recreation, M-O Federa; Credit Union, and Wells Fargo. The Municipal Band will follow.
Next will be the July lineup:
July 5 — we start with Callie Wachter who will perform from 7-8 p.m., followed by the Municipal Band.

July 12 - The duo Curtis and Loretta will perform from 7-8 p.m., sponsored by Huron Park and Recreation and American Bank and Trust. The Municipal Band will close the show, beginning at 8 p.m.
July 19 - Phil Baker will take the stage at 7 p.m. This night is sponsored by Huron Park and Recreation and Dakotaland FCU.  The Municipal Band will perform at 8 p.m.
July 26 - Connecting Culture will be providing entertainment and education on the variety of cultures we have in the Huron community, beginning at 7 p.m. and followed by the Municipal Band.
Lastly, we have the lineup for August:
August 2 - Beginning at 7 p.m., Haley Withhorn will take the stage, followed by the final performance by Municipal Band for the summer at 8 p.m.
August 9 - Mt. Olivet Praise Team will perform at 7 p.m., followed by soloist Kara Pugsley at 8 p.m.
August 16 - We will conclude our summer program with the “Pie in the Park,” sponsored by Fair City Sertoma. Greg Hager, a Huron favorite, will perform from 7 to 8 p.m., and is sponsored by Huron Sertoma and The Clothing Company.
Then the Pie winners will be announced and there is pie and ice cream for everyone!
Concessions will be provided by the Girl Scouts.
Also, the Farmers Market will have a booth each Thursday, rotating products that will be for sale.

This year is dedicated to the memory of my father Roger Kasa, who was instrumental in starting the Family Night in Campbell Park 32 years ago.
