HURON — Dakotaland Federal Credit Union announced that Tom Gietzen has announced his retirement, and that Ryan Fuchs has stepped into the position of Vice President of Business Lending.
“The Credit Union is thankful for our many talented and dedicated staff members. Tom is a good example of the priceless experience our senior employees bring to our membership and Ryan’s transition within the department is a testimony to the depth of knowledge we have available. I am pleased to congratulate both of these gentlemen on their next chapter,” commented Ryan Goehner, CEO of Dakotaland Federal Credit Union.
Gietzen retires after more than 40 years of service to the financial industry as he embarks on his retirement.
Beginning his career in 1979 in Bismarck, N.D., and eventually moving his family to Huron in 1989, Gietzen made his mark on the commercial lending over the decades, assisting numerous local business owners. Gietzen has also dedicated many hours to a number of boards and committees for the betterment of Huron and the surrounding area.
“Tom’s commitment to our business members has been commendable and he stands out as a local leader. His impact on this community is something to be proud of,” said Bryan W. Smith, Chief Lending Officer with Dakototaland Federal Credit Union.
Gietzen is looking forward to his retirement time and hopes to spend a great deal of it on the end of a fishing pole.
Fuchs has taken the management role as the new VP over Dakotaland’s Business Lending Department. Fuchs joined the Credit Union in 2012 and has shared his aspirations and has proven his effectiveness as a business lender.
“Ryan is a natural fit for this appointment,” said Smith. “He has spent nearly 10 years fostering relations and honing the business lending processes to best support our members. We are confident in his leadership.”
The department consists of six staff members and is housed in the Main Branch location in Huron. The group supports several hundred business owner/operators in the Credit Union’s service area.
Fuchs has a bachelor of science degree from the University of Nebraska and has a strong background in finance and insurance. He is an avid hunter and has a green thumb for gardening. He and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Huron and are the proud parents of Camdyn and Corbin. Jennifer is employed by Huron Public Schools.
