CLARK — The Clark-Willow Lake Cyclones broke open a tight game with a 48-27 run over the second and third quarters combined to post a 75-45 win over the Northwestern Wildcats to advance to the semifinals of the Region 1B girls’ basketball tournament Tuesday night.
Janae Kolden scored 23 points, Saylor Burke scored 21 and had eight rebounds and Olivia Sass had 10 points and eight rebounds. Abbie Bratland also had eight rebounds and handed out five assists in the game.
Caitlyn Fischbach scored 12 points for Northwestern, Sydney Schell had 11 and eight rebounds and Hannah Schentzel scored 10 and grabbed eight boards.
Clark-Willow Lake, now 14-6, will play Waverly-South Shore in the semifinals tonight, after W-SS upset third-seeded Florence-Henry in another quarterfinal game. The winner of tonight’s game advances to next week’s SoDak 16 playoff round with a shot at a state tournament berth on the line.
Northwestern ends its season with a record of 8-13.

WHITE – The Deubrook Area Dolphins jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a Region 3B quarterfinal win, 58-30, over the James Valley Christian Lady Vikings Tuesday night.
Deubrook Area led 24-7 after a quarter; extended its advantage to 31-13 at halftime; and pulled away for a 50-22 lead through three to improve to 16-4 on the season.
Mattie Nepodal led the Dolphin attack with 16 points, while Ashley Vandermeer added 12 points and four rebounds. Shaylee DeBeer chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds as Dre Vandermeer had team highs of five steals and five assists.
Karilyn Wieting and Brenna Held scored 13 points apiece to lead the Lady Vikings, who ended their season with a 7-15 mark.
On Thursday, the Dolphins take on Castlewood in the Region 3B semifinals in Madison.
