ABERDEEN — Glenn Levi Struss, 97, of Aberdeen, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019, at the Mother Joseph Manor.
Grave-side services in Huron are pending at this time.
He was born September 18, 1921, in Codington County to Carl and Augusta (Erickson) Struss. He graduated from South Shore High School in 1939, and served in the U.S. Army as a radio technician from 1942 to 1947. He was united in marriage to Celia Burnham in 1944. He was employed by the Watertown Public Opinion newspaper before moving to Huron in 1955 to work at the Huron Daily Plainsman newspaper.
After Celia’s death in 1979, he married Jean Jensen in 1982. The couple lived in Kentucky before moving to Wisconsin where he worked for the Clark County Press for 10 years.They returned to Watertown in 2004. His life-long love of carpentry followed him wherever he lived.
He is survived by his children, Allen Smokey Struss of Sioux Falls, Patti Heintz of Pierre, and Jan Beckler of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Angela (David) Nelson, Chad Struss, Elizabeth (Chris) Henrichsen, Amy (Dennis) Hotchkin, Dustin (Kaitlin) Malsom, Becky (Will) Crosby; and many nieces, nephews, and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wives; and his siblings.
