SUGAR LAND, Texas — Gloria Jean McCracken, 76, of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at her home.
A private graveside service will be held Friday, March 9, at the Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheatridge, Colo. with a memorial service to be planned for later this year.
Gloria was born December 7, 1941, in Huron to George W. and Nona E. Crowell. She graduated from Huron High School in 1959, and worked for several years as a telephone operator in S.D., Houston, Texas, and Denver, Colo.
She was united in marriage to Dudley J. McCracken February 5, 1968, at the Applewood Valley United Methodist Church in Golden, Colo. She and her husband lived in Golden, Colo.; Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md; Corpus Christi, Texas; and Arvada, Colo. before moving to Houston in 1975. She especially liked cooking, sewing, painting, and crafts.
She is survived by her husband; son, Mark J. McCracken of Houston, Texas; siblings, Gary J. Crowell of Philadelphia; Pa., Georgean W. Dickson of Golden, Colo.; nieces, Danielle J. Padgett, Dawn E. Dacheff, and Amy E. Crowell; and nephew, Darin C. Dickson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and nephew, Christopher H. Crowell.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt and our memories of Gloria will forever live in our hearts. She is at peace with our Lord.
