Huron Middle School swept the HMS Quiz Bowl Invitational Monday night by capturing first-, second- and third-place in the event. Fourth place went to the Highmore-Harrold team. Eleven teams comprised of 55 students from Madison, De Smet, Highmore-Harrold and Huron took part in the event. Colleen Jensen has been HMS Quiz Bowl coordinator for the past seven years, and also teaches English as a Second Language. Each participant went through testing to qualify to represent their school.
Winning teams include, first place, from left, Sike Ma Noke, Noah Beck, Brailey Walls and Jake Holforty.
Students participating in the HMS Quiz Bowl competed in their knowledge of a variety of topics including medical, science, mathematics, literature and dinosaurs.
