SPEARFISH — Jack Thomas Vosler, 94, of Spearfish, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018.
Service will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, April 16, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spearfish.
Jack Thomas Vosler was born Oct. 23, 1923, in St. Louis Park, Minn. to George and Alice Vosler. In 1941, he graduated from North High School in Minneapolis, Minn.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corp and became a Radio Operator and Gunner in a B-25, fighting in North Africa and Italy. He attended St. Olaf college and graduated in 1950 from University of Minn. with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was united in marriage to Ruth Dove in September of 1949. In 1959, they moved to Huron where he opened an engineering consulting office. He was active in the Masonic Lodge, James Valley Shrine and Rotary.
He loved playing baseball and hockey and was instrumental in starting youth hockey in S.D. He was the first president of the State Hockey Association and later was inducted into the Huron Hockey Hall of Fame. He retired to Spearfish in 1989.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; sons, Steven (Anne) and Robert (Sara); five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, John; and brothers, Robert, Alden, and Bill.
Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapels and Crematory Service of Spearfish.
