HURON — James Fred Kleinlein, 77, of Huron, passed away Sunday evening, April 30, 2017, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
At his request, he will be cremated and there will be no services.
James Fred Kleinlein was proud to serve in law enforcement for about 16 years as a police officer of Mitchell, Woonsocket and Freeman. He also served as sheriff of Sanborn County.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed making wooden crafts for his family.
He was thankful to have shared his life with his wife, Charlene; his sons, Randy Kleinlein, Larry Kleinlein and Steve Kleinlein; sister, Barbara Duniphan; brother, Edward Kleinlein; cherished grandchildren, Kaia Kleinlein, Drake Kleinlein and Katie Kleinlein; great-grandson, Aidynn James; sister-in-law, Paula (Terry) Garbe; and mother-in-law, Marlys Roth.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Officer Luke Kleinlein; sisters, Liz Turley, and Louise Ravenburg; and his parents, Walt and Louise Kleinlein.
