The Joy of Music Spring Recital was held Sunday, May 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Carthage. Those taking part include, back row, from left, Jessica Burghardt, Fedora, piano and violin; Rosalie Wehlander, Esmond, lap harp (zither) and piano; Andrew Zens, Artesian, canjo (not to be confused with banjo) and piano; and Dianne Perry, Bancroft, instructor; and in front, Iris Darnell, Carthage, rain stick; Emma Zens, Artesian, piano and boom-wacker; Onassis Darnell, Carthage, piano and boom-wacker; Reese Dammann, Howard, piano and boom-wacker; and McKenzie Zens, Artesian, piano and boom-wacker. Not pictured are Bernetta Burghardt, Fedora, vocal on one song. Darnell and Wehlander were recognized for keeping a practice chart, and Jessica Burghardt was honored for her 14th and final year of lessons.
