Gary — Lennis Baumiller, 69, of Gary passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Ava’s House of Hospice in Sioux Falls.
Memorial Service will be 10 a.m., Monday, July 2, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis.
Lennis Dale Baumiller was born December 9, 1948, in Scotland to Clarence and Eldora (Schelske) Baumiller. He attained an Associates degree from SDSU. He served his country in the S.D. Army National Guard from 1970 to 2004. He started in the 153rd Engineering Br. in Springfield and retired proudly in recruiting and retention.
He was united in marriage to Anna Marie Stender September 6, 1969. He was employed by the Lake Cochrane Improvement Association as Superintendent. He was a member of St. Paul‘s Lutheran Church, American Legion, Sioux Voiture of Bellingham, Minn., and the NRA.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; children, Julie (Keith) Harrison of Peoria, Ariz., Jennifer Hauf of Box Elder, and Jacob (Liz) Baumiller of Berkeley, Calif.; five grandchildren; mother, Eldora Baumiller of Huron; siblings, Scott (Christine) Baumiller of Piedmont, and Kris (Arnie) Claeys of Huron; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence; and brother, Craig Baumiller.
