WOONSOCKET — Marcus Carl Ulrich, age 69, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021, at the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Woonsocket.
Memorial services were held April 24, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron. Inurnment followed at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, in Yale.
Marcus was born on August 1, 1951, to Ralph and Gertrude (Schnathorst) at Huron. He lived on the family farm near Osceola and attended Iroquois High School. He entered the United States Navy and eventually became a member of the U. S. Coast Guard. While serving in the Navy he married and had a daughter.
After his discharge from the service he remained in California where he married Billie Compton and together with his step-son, Scott, worked until returning to South Dakota due to ill health.
He is survived by his daughter, Tara Nero and grandson, Vinny; sister Melanie Kludt, Cavour and brothers Don (Marvalee) Ulrich, Iroquois; Rod (Sandra) Ulrich, Howard; stepbrothers Ronnie and Darrel Schmidt; stepsister Glenda Schmidt; stepsisters in-laws, Marlene and Pauline Schmidt, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Billie, parents, grandparents, stepmother, Vivian Ulrich; two stepbrothers and a stepsister.
