ABERDEEN — Margareth B. Tomek, 85, of Aberdeen passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017,
at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Thursday, May 11, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home with Father Mark Lichter celebrant. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park at Aberdeen. Visitation will be 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with a Wake Service and Rosary at 7 p.m. at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street in Aberdeen.
Margareth Barbara Gross was born November 9, 1931, at Aberdeen to John and Barbara (Welder) Gross. She had a full life with her parents and siblings on a farm northwest of Aberdeen. She would often tell stories of working with her family. Naturally, she had told us about her interactions with her siblings.
She met Gerald Tomek at a dance hall at Richmond Lake. She was talked into going to the dance by her siblings. Gerald asked her to dance, which he loved to do. Margareth accepted his dance and that was the beginning of a life-time with Gerald. They were married on May 30, 1953, at Broadus, Mont. Together they farmed near, Chelsea. To this union three daughters were added. They raised their daughters while farming, gardening, working with horses, attending parades, horse shows, rodeos and leading the good life.
Gerald died on December 2, 2010, at Aberdeen and Margareth spent more time with her daughters. “Mom, we love you and we miss you already”.
Grateful for having shared Margareth’s life are her daughters, Wanda Ellefson of Chelsea, Waneta Rietz of Mandan, N.D., and Wenda Tomek of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Houston, Austin and Tyler Rietz ;and stepgreat-granddaughter, Michaela.
Preceding Margareth in death are her husband, Gerald Tomek; parents, John and Barbara Gross; siblings, Anton Gross, Kathryn Kowalke and Clara Gross.
