WOONSOCKET — Marie B. Rankin, 98, of Woonsocket, passed away Wednesday November 21, 2018, at the Prairie Health Care Center in Woonsocket.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 26, at St. Wilfrid’s Catholic Church in Woonsocket. Burial will be in St. Wilfrid Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Basham Funeral Home in Woonsocket, with a rosary at 6 p.m. and a scripture service at 6:30 pm, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Marie was born September 28, 1920, near Forestburg to Henry and Mary (Eining) Hinker. She attended country grade school. She was united in marriage to Peter Rankin May 29, 1946. They lived and farmed northwest of town. After Peter’s passing in 1984, she moved back to the Hinker family farm with her brother. She moved into an apartment in Woonsocket in 2003.
She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, watching the Twins Baseball and EWTN Catholic channel on television. She was a lifetime member of St. Wilfrid’s Catholic Church and a member of St. Wilfrid’s Altar Society, St. Francis Circle, Quilting of Others and was recently recognized as a 50 plus year member of Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; siblings, Clara Schmidt, Leona Baysinger, Bernice Rankin, Veronica Holtkamp, William and Victor Hinker.
