The Huron Public Library will be celebrating National Library Week, beginning Monday until Saturday, April 15. National Library Week is an annual event started by the American Library Association in 1958 which most libraries participate in each year.
This year the theme was thought of by Demco Library Supplies, “Libraries change lives and communities,” which Huron Public Library chose as an alternative theme to the American Library Association’s theme “Libraries transform.”
A series of fun activities and events for all ages will be hosted throughout the week at the Library, including give aways such as book marks and book bags, refreshments, and a fun atmosphere with interesting discussions.
The Peeps contest is hosted every year around Easter, when the public registers to participate and make dioramas.
These will be on display at the library, where the public is invited to judge and vote on the dioramas during National Library Week.
The theme for the contest is “Peeps build a better world,” which will lead up to the Summer Reading Program as the same theme.
