WICHITA, Kan., — Rev. Elton Berg, 87, of Wichita, Kan., formerly of rural Yale, passed away June 25, 2017, at Wichita, Kan.
His funeral service was held Saturday, July 1, at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro, Kan.
Elton was born June 18, 1930, at Richey, Mont. to Tobias and Lydia (Schmidt) Berg. He attended Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada, Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kan. and the MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif. He was united in marriage to Ella Reddig June 29, 1954, Lustre, Mon. They served churches in Montana, California, Washington and North Dakota. He then served for 17 years at Bethel MB church in rural Yale. The last church they served was in Nebraska. Upon retirement they moved to Hillsboro, Kan.
Survivors include his four children, Steven (Sandra) Berg of Overland Park, Kan.; Samuel (Lisa) Berg of Ozark, Mo.; Deborah (Todd) Reynolds of Woodinville, Wash.; David (Jody) Berg of Yale; grandchildren, Sara, Tobias and Daniel Berg, Brittney (Heath) Hawkins, Cody (Hanna) Gibson, Braden and Cooper Berg, Danika and Jared Reynolds, Noelle Berg, Amanda (Dan) Swan, Dawson and Parker Berg, and Makiah Schweigert; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Holzwarth of Lynnwood, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella; and stepbrothers, Allen and Melvin Holzwarth.
