JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Richard Allen Jansen, 75 of Jacksonvlle, Fla., passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday November 10, at Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Fla.
Richard was born February 11, 1942, in Huron to Douglas and Ida (Hershman) Jansen. He honorably served in the United States Navy for 20 years where he traveled the world, fought in the Vietnam war, and met his loving wife whom he was married to for 49 years.
When he retired he went on to work for NADEP JAX for an additional 31 years. He enjoyed his work with the F18 fighter planes, was an avid Gator and Jag fan, and liked grilling out for family and friends. Above all, he loved his family and treasured his time spent with his wife, kids and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Laurel Jansen; his children, Deborah (Gerald Jr.) Lamb, Eric (Melissa) Jansen both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Keith (Jill) Jansen of Universal City, Texas; five grandchildren, Gerald III, Nicholas, Lauren, Olivia and Ava; and brother, Larry (Joyce) Jansen of De Smet.
He was preceded in death by his father; his mother, Ida Poe; stepfathers, Herb Robrabaugh, and Wayne Poe; and a granddaughter, Nora.
